We are currently on holidays, in Tenerife, which is a celebration holiday because exactly one year ago I was in the middle of chemotherapy which was going on for three months until April and I still had to go through more treatments for the rest of the year until January this year, 2024.
We had this plan to go on holidays after everything is finished. So at the end of last summer we booked flights to Tenerife, for February, and that’s where we are now. And it’s absolutely beautiful.
For many years I wanted to go somewhere in February, when it’s grey and wet and cold and just be somewhere where it’s warm, craving the sunshine.
So this year we finally made it happen. And I’m wondering why did I not make this happen earlier?
Hopefully this will become something more frequent over the next few years. Travelling during the winter to some warmer countries. Or just going on some adventures anyway, to break up the winter blues.
But what I wanted to talk about today was this:
I thought being on holidays, that I would be going to take a break from my blog, my podcast and everything I’ve been working on over the last few months.
But we’re only on Day 6 and I actually feel like I want to create something again.
First I thought: Oh, I have to wait until I get back home. I can’t really produce anything here. But then I thought: no, that’s not true. I have a phone with me. I even have my laptop with me. So that means I really have everything I need to create something.
I can record another podcast episode with my phone. I can upload it tonight, if I want. I can take pictures, I can write blog posts. I could even create little videos for YouTube or Instagram, whatever I want to do.
And that’s exactly what I want to talk about.
I love the idea of waking up every morning and rather than just looking at my To Do list, which is good to have as well, but before you start working on your to do list to just ask yourself:
What do I want to create today? What do I want to work on today?
And then, follow your intuition. Follow whatever is coming up for you. And do that.
You can still go back to your to do list afterwards. But I think if you just follow your intuition and you do whatever you feel like doing in the morning, when you are still fresh just after waking up, or sometimes just during the day or in the evening when you get a spark of an idea or something, like an impulse that tells you oh, I could create this or write about that or I could talk about this. And then just do it.
And there is so much power behind that. You just take your phone or your camera or your notepad or your laptop and create whatever comes up, whatever you want to do in that moment.
We have so many excuses not to do it in that moment. And then the moment is gone. And the inspiration is gone.
But if you actually act on the inspiration it’s so much more powerful than putting it on a list and sitting down at some stage an say: oh yeah, I have to do this but now I’m not in the mood and I don’t really feel like it. Maybe tomorrow.
No, just take the idea and just go with it, like I just did with this podcast.
So what do YOU want to create today?
Love,
Halina (plus my 8 year old)
